Life Balance Spread

This is a spread that I developed a few years ago.  It’s aimed at helping you find any blockages or imbalances in your life as well as what is working.

Life-Balance Spread Designed and Developed by Cathy Hughes. Copyright © 2010 Cathy Hughes and Cathy Hughes Tarot - All right reserved.

This reading is broken up into four different rows.  The top row is the various states of your life from work to love.  The second row is three obstacles that are standing in your way.  The third row is two things that will help unblock you and bring balance to your life and the final row is the wild card, whose meaning you will glean based on the rest of the reading.

Cheers!

Hi Cathy… I thought this was a good spread for me to try right now. I came up with some interesting cards (the Tower, The Devil, and the moon in the blockage row), but in the balancer row I got the Magician card reversed. I am a bit puzzled by this, as its meaning does not seem to be positive. I also got the Queen of wands as a balancer (upright), which makes more sense to me.
    Any insight?

I love this spread! I’m gonna sit down and give it a try today. :)

  • Hi Melissa,
Sounds like your blockages are pretty strong, since they are all major arcana. The Magician reversed also has a power of its own. The blockages, I believe, all seem to indicate that you are lacking control in your life and you don’t even know what to do about it. You in a serious emotional phase where other people and your environment seem to have the upper hand and you don’t know how to get it back. The Moon also seems to indicate that you are trying to regain this control, but don’t know how and feel very confused. The Magician reversed, while it may seem like a negative, actually isn’t in this case. This card is about giving up the need to control your current situation in order to actually regain some control. The Magician reversed, in this case, is about letting go and not trying to change what is happening. Right now, you don’t need to change anything, even if it feels like you do. In fact, trying to change things may only cloud them up more and really draws your mind to how much control you lack right now. Instead, focus on not needing to control things and roll with the punches. Get involved with creative endeavors or start engrossing yourself in something you are passionate about (as indicated by the Queen of Wands). This will give you the ability to stop confronting things head-on and will probably clear the air for you. After you go through this period of letting go, your perspective will change and you will be able to actually make significant and lasting change in your life.
Does this makes sense? I’d love to know what you got for your wild card!
    Thanks for sharing!

It works great! I’m still having trouble reading some of it for myself but I’m working on that. I got a little more out of this reading than I did the last reading I did for myself so that’s awesome. :D

  • Cathy,

This is a neat spread! Thanks for sharing it. I am looking over my pull right now. This is definitely a spread that I’d want to look over several times and refer back to in order to get more info from it.

    Gracias,
    Celeste

  • Hi Celeste,
I am glad you like it! I find that having more than one slot for an issue can really open things up in a reading. Hope it helps!
    Thanks!
    Cathy
